This new Sonny's prototype is the first of its kind and the direction of the future. Per the request of Sonny's corporate executives, it incorporates a mercantile facade as the new image for Sonny's, leaving behind the "back porch" type concept. The new design still has elements of design that link it to its roots of the past. The store is also supported by another brand, Starbuck's Coffee. In the past, the Sonny's restaurants have always been stand alone. This new concept of combining the two is hopeful to benefit both companies. The new 8,700 square foot restaurant seats 180 patrons, has a full liquor bar, larger kitchen, outdoor eating area and drive thru.
